Files of note:

FILE UPDATE: Stolen wood returned

On May 12th, staff at the Quadra Island Harbour Authority reported a theft of wood that occurred that morning at 4 AM. Video surveillance was available and it showed two men getting out of a older model white flat deck pickup truck and stealing the lumber. With the help of the complainant, officers were able identify the suspects involved. The complainant advised they just wanted the wood returned and weren't interested in charges. Officers were finally able to make contact with the registered owner on June 6th regarding the wood. After much conversation with the owner, he somehow located the wood on his property and allowed the police to transport it to it's rightful owner.

FILE UPDATE: Erratic driver

On May 22nd, Quadra RCMP received a report of man driving a 2-stroke off road bike erratically on the South part of the Island. The bike was described as black with a go pro sticking off the middle of the helmet. This file was put in the weekly media release. Apparently, the media release upset the driver who emailed the officer in charge of the file that he was not driving recklessly and was upset about the allegations. The driver claimed that his uninsured bike was always being safely driven and he only used it for work. The driver, in his email, also provided his personal information. Police checks on the individual showed he had multiple warrants for Assault with a Weapon, Spousal Assault, Public Mischief, and multiple other charges. While proactively patrolling, officers located the man on his bike and arrested him for his outstanding warrants.

Prohibited driver

On June 7th, Quadra RCMP received a report that a prohibited driver was boarding the ferry toward Quadra. Officers located the vehicle. The driver, who was prohibited from driving due to a recent impaired charge, advised he was not aware of the prohibition and was confused why ICBC wouldn't let him renew his driver license. The confused driver was arrested for driving while prohibited and released with a court date next month.

Erratic driver/mental health crisis

In the evening of June 9th, Quadra RCMP received a report of an erratic driver. Multiple witnesses reported a women driving around town, blowing through stop signs, honking her horn, and having what appeared to be a mental health crisis. Multiple local individuals attempted to keep the women in the parking lot of the local grocery store to calm her down, but when officers attended to speak with her, she sped off in her vehicle. The woman ran over two ditches before landing in the bank parking lot. The women, who was clearly in a mental health crisis, was apprehended under the mental health act and transported to the closest medical facility by officers. The Quadra RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance. Multiple people called and tried to help the women and were instrumental in her getting the help she needed.
