File # 2023-106030
On June 27, 2023, Surrey RCMP received a call just before midnight regarding a report of an assault at a residence in the 8900-block of 147A Street. Frontline members attended and located two victims who sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Police learned two men had allegedly forced their way into the residence, where both victims were assaulted and property was damaged. The suspects also left with some of the victims’ personal items, as well as their dog. The dog’s name is Little Bit and she is described as a 6-month old, black female, miniature pincher and shih tzu cross and she was last seen wearing a black studded collar.
Just a few hours later, investigative efforts led police to a residence where two men were arrested. Forty-nine-year-old Christopher Nygard and 37-year-old John Harasym are now facing charges including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Both have been held in custody awaiting their next court appearances.
While the motive is still under investigation police believe it was not a random act. The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to follow leads and gather evidence in the case.
The victims’ dog has not yet been located. Police are asking anyone who may have seen Little Bit or may have information about her whereabouts to Surrey RCMP Detachment at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2023-106030.
