A young man fatally stabbed in school parking lot

Surrey RCMP is currently on scene following a stabbing in the Newton area of Surrey that has left one person deceased.

On November 22, 2022, at 12:08 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report that a person had been stabbed in a school parking lot located in the 12600-block of 66 Avenue. Police arrived within minutes and immediately began lifesaving measures. The 18-year-old victim was transported to hospital, however despite all attempts to revive the individual he has succumbed to his injuries.

Police located and arrested one possible suspect who has been transported to Surrey RCMP cells.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase; no further information will be provided at this time. Further details will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
