Collision Update: Collision leaves pedestrians with injuries

Surrey RCMP is updating the community on the investigation of a motor vehicle collision that occurred Sunday evening in Surrey.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on March 21, 2021, Surrey RCMP responded to a collision at a bus stop on 72 Avenue between 122 Street and 124 Street. A single vehicle left the roadway and mounted the sidewalk striking three people, including a 5-year-old girl. One of the three people sustained multiple fractures. The victims were transported to the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle is a Class 7 (learner) who was under supervision at the time of the collision. The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team has conduct of this investigation. Early indications are that distraction may have been a factor in this collision.

Charges have not been laid at this time.

Surrey RCMP is informing the community that road closures are in effect following a serious single motor vehicle collision, in Surrey.

Police have closed the east and west bound lanes on 72 Avenue between 122 Street and 124 Street. Investigators are on scene and expected to continue their work in the area for several hours.
