Serious incident with IHIT engagement

On February 17, 2021, shortly after 08:30 p.m. Surrey RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a residence in the 5500-block of 125 Street. Officers attended and located a critically injured man outside of the residence.

Surrey RCMP Frontline officers performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and administered an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Shortly thereafter, BC Ambulance Service attended and provided treatment and care to the man as well however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The initial indications are that both parties are known to one another. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence-gathering phase; no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
