Fatal motor vehicle collision under investigation

Surrey RCMP is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian involved collision in the Whalley area.

On September 30, 2020 at approximately 6:20 a.m., Surrey RCMP was advised by Emergency Health Services of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Highway 17 and Bridgeview Drive. The pedestrian was struck in the middle of the intersection and has succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the police.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team, and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service have taken conduct of the investigation and are expected to be in the area for several hours. The area is currently closed to traffic.

Investigators are seeking witnesses and dash cam video that may show the driving actions of the vehicle prior to the accident.
