Road closures in effect following serious collision

Road closures are currently in effect as a result of a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of 96th Avenue and Fraser Hwy in Surrey, BC.

On Aug 29, 2020 at about 11:30 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of 96 Ave and Fraser Hwy. The force of the collision caused one vehicle to catch fire. The driver of the vehicle that caught fire was transported to local hospital with serious injuries. The passenger sustained minor injuries and is being assessed by BC Ambulance Services at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle did not sustain any injuries and is speaking with the investigators. It is too early to determine the cause of the collision at this time but the investigation is ongoing.

Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team are currently on scene and will be investigating the collision. As such there will be road closures of 96 Ave and Fraser Hwy in both direction leading to the intersection. These closures are expected to remain in place for several hours.
