Charges laid against man for sexual assault and robbery in Whalley

Surrey RCMP is providing a second update in respect to the investigation of a sexual assault and robbery which occurred on July 10, 2020, in Whalley. See previous release (2020-07-11)
On July 24, 2020, a 30-year-old man, was arrested and taken into police custody. On Saturday, July 25, 2020, several charges were sworn in BC Provincial Court.
Hartley Ronald Duckhorn of Surrey, was charged with sexual assault with a weapon, use of an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence, unlawful confinement, robbery, and uttering threats. Hartley Duckhorn was remanded in custody.
This unacceptable attack on a woman in our community was very concerning for police and for the greater community, says Staff Sergeant Lyndsay O’Ruairc, Vulnerable Persons Section Commander.
Our Special Victims Unit worked rigorously with multiple other Surrey RCMP Units to identify this suspect. We hope the community feels some reassurance with his arrest and charges.

Surrey RCMP is updating the public with respect to the investigation of a sexual assault and robbery which occurred on July 10, 2020, in Whalley. See previous release (2020-07-11)
As a result of the on-going investigation by the Surrey RCMP Special Victims Unit, a 30-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody today, July 24, 2020. Charges have not yet been sworn in court, and as such the name of the suspect will not be released at this time.
An updated media release will be provided following further court proceedings.
