Fatal fire investigation underway in Whalley

Surrey RCMP is investigating a fatal fire which occurred in the early morning hours in Whalley.

At approximately 4:20 am, on July 23, 2020, Surrey RCMP was called to assist Surrey Fire Service in response to a residential fire at 10640 125B Street. Upon arrival, emergency crews found the residence fully engulfed, and located two deceased people inside.

The cause of the fire and cause of death of the two individuals has not been determined and is under investigation by the RCMP and fire officials. The BC Coroners Service is also conducting a concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine cause of death.

Due to the privacy of the deceased, neither the RCMP or Coroners Service will be releasing or confirming identity. No further details regarding the deceased persons will be released at this time.
