Surrey RCMP is providing an update to the investigation of a deceased person found in a wooded area near 46A Avenue and 196A Street, on July 15, 2020.

The BC Coroners Service and the RCMP are continuing to investigate this incident, however, the death is no longer considered suspicious.


July 15, 2020

An investigation is underway after a deceased person was found in a wooded area along the border of Langley and Surrey.

Shortly before 11:00 am this morning, July 15, 2020, Langley RCMP and the Langley Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the area of 46A Avenue and 196A Street. The fire was extinguished and a deceased person was located in the area. The cause of death for this person has not been established, as such the death is being investigated as suspicious.

It was determined that this incident occurred within Surrey boundaries, and conduct of the investigation was turned over to the Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time.
