Investigating collision involving truck in the Massey Tunnel

At approximately 8:40 pm on January 10, 2024 Richmond RCMP received a report of a collision involving a truck in the Massey Tunnel.

The complainant advised she witnessed a truck strike the roof of the Massey Tunnel at approximately 8:10 pm. The complainant stated she was driving directly behind the truck when it hit. The truck initially came to a stop inside of the tunnel but after continued driving through.

It has been alleged that after the truck exited the tunnel it pulled over and the driver possibly spoke with an employee from a road maintenance contractor, however, this person has yet to be identified.

Richmond RCMP were provided with dash cam footage.

Based on the subsequent investigation, Richmond RCMP believe they have identified the trailer involved. Richmond RCMP are working on identifying the driver and ask that the driver contact police.

Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit have conduct of this investigation. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
