File # 2023-4535

Kamloops police are looking for video and information after a stolen vehicle linked to a break-in was located abandoned in Valleyview.

On Feb. 7, 2023, around 9:35 p.m., the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a break and enter at a store on Pinantan Road. The two suspects were described as males in a dark Dodge Ram pickup truck. Lottery and tobacco products were amongst the items stolen.

While en route to the location, a police officer observed a purple stolen truck which matched the description of the one used in the break-in, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. In an attempt to stop the truck, officers deployed a spike belt on Paul Lake Road.

Officers were successful in deflating one of the vehicle’s tires, but the truck continued onto the Halston Connector at high speeds. Several reports of an erratic driver brought Kamloops RCMP officers to the 1900-block of Curlew Road, where the truck was located abandoned and items stolen from the break-in were found inside. A Police Dog Service track was unsuccessful in finding the suspects.

If you were out driving last night and saw a purple truck travelling around with a flat tire, or noticed it in your neighbourhood, please have a look at any security and dash camera video you might have to see if it captured anything related to this incident, added Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

Anyone with information about the stolen truck or the break-in is asked to please call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2023-4535.
