The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 409 calls for service over the weekend, from midnight Friday Sept. 9, to 9 a.m. on Monday Sept. 12, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Disturbance report leads to arrest

An unwanted person resulted in police locating two people wanted on arrest warrants.

On Sept. 11, 2022, around 1:15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a residence on the 17000-block of Parkcrest Avenue for a report involving a man causing a disturbance inside.

While en route, officers discovered the unwelcomed party was wanted on a warrant for break and enter. The wanted man allegedly refused to exit the house at first, but then surrendered and was arrested outside. A woman inside was also wanted for the same offence and taken into custody.

They were released with a court date and conditions, as per the warrant’s instructions.

Bear-spray assault on the North Shore

Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 200-block of Fairview Avenue early Sunday morning in response to an assault report.

On Sept. 12, 2022, at 12:20 a.m., police were called to a location where paramedics were treating a man assaulted with what appeared to be bear spray. The man stated he had been riding his bike along the river trail that intersects with Schubert Drive when a man in a hat sprayed him. No other descriptors were provided.

The victim was not cooperative with the investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-32408.

Woman robbed of her scooter

Police are investigating after a woman was robbed of the scooter she was riding in the early hours of Monday morning.

On Sept. 12, 2022, around 1 a.m., a woman reported riding her electric scooter near Holt Street and Parkcrest Avenue, when a man on a bike approached her, demanded the scooter, assaulted her, and took it by force.

The suspect was described as male, 5’6, thin build, wearing a red baseball cap, black track pants, and a black sports jacket. He was riding a red mountain bike.

Break and enter downtown

An alarm at a business downtown led police to discover it had been broken into.

On Sept. 12, 2022, around 3:20 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 100-block of Victoria Street, after the business had been broken into from an entrance in the alleyway between 1st and 2nd avenues. Several computer towers were stolen.
