On January 6, 2023 a Comox Valley RCMP Frontline member was on Ryan Road when he observed a vehicle travelling at 120 km/hr (in a 60 km/hr zone). The Toyota 4Runner was impounded for 7 days and the driver issued a violation ticket for excessive speed.

On January 27, 2023 a member of the Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit was on the Inland Island Highway at Cook Creek when he observed a vehicle travelling at 185 km/hr (in a 90 km/hr zone). The Audi A7 was impounded for 7 days and the driver issued a violation ticket for excessive speed.

On January 31, 2023 at approximately 2:30 p.m. a member of the Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit was on 29th Street in Courtenay when he observed a vehicle travelling 110 km/hr (in a 60 km/hr zone). The road was wet and slushy with snow still falling. The member initiated a traffic stop and after smelling an odour of liquor also initiated an impaired driving investigation. The driver of the vehicle refused to provide a breath sample at the scene and his black Jeep Wrangler was impounded for 30 days and driver’s licence suspended for 90 days in addition to his violation ticket for excessive speed.
