For week of September 13-19, 2022

2022-4814 et al. – Impaired Driving

Over the last week, Whistler RCMP has done formal and informal impaired driving enforcement, including setting up road checks and patrols specifically to check driver sobriety. In one road check, members spoke with and assessed 50 drivers, and anyone who had been drinking was within legal limits to drive. Members arrested one man for impaired driving under the Criminal Code after determining he was over two times the legal limit to drive. Members also issued four immediate roadside prohibitions under the Motor Vehicle Act. Four of the five drivers are local to the Whistler area.

2022-4772 – Theft of Vehicle

On September 15, 2022, at about 11:30 a.m., a black 2003 Nissan Xterra was stolen by two unknown people from a work site in the 9000 block Skiers Rest Drive. The truck owner saw an Asian male and Caucasian female driving the car southbound on Highway 99 and then they got into a grey Toyota Camry and continued south. Member patrols and Forensic Identification Section examination for the stolen car had negative results, however, the car was returned to the owner.

2022-4762 – Mischief

On September 14, 2022, five out-of-town people dined and dashed from a restaurant in the 4300 block Blackcomb Way. Staff from the restaurant chased one of the men from the group to the rear of the RCMP Detachment where police detained him for fraudulently obtaining food/beverage. The restaurant did not wish to pursue charges as long as the culprits paid for their bill. The detained man returned to the restaurant and paid the bill.

2022-4721 – Theft

On September 12, 2022, staff from a local bar in the 4200 Mountain Square area reported to police that an unknown man stole one of the establishment’s tablets sometime on September 8, 2022. The establishment has video and credit card information of the possible suspect and are turning over this information to police for follow up.
