Pedestrian Struck Collision - 8200 Block of 168th Street, Surrey BC

 *Surrey RCMP is advising the public the pedestrian injured in this collision has passed away. Speed and alcohol have been ruled out as factors and the investigation is ongoing. The 8200-block of 168th Street has re-opened.*

Surrey RCMP is advising the public that a section of 168th Street is currently shut down due to a serious collision involving a pedestrian.

On December 18, 2022 at 9:23 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 8200 block of 168th Street. The pedestrian has suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital. The driver of the vehicle has remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Investigators will look into determining whether or not speed or alcohol are factors.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service has been called to assist the Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team with the investigation.

Traffic in the area will be affected for an undetermined amount of time as officers continue their investigation. A road closure is in effect on 168th Street between 83rd Avenue and 81A Avenue. The public are requested to avoid the area until further notice.

The investigation is in its early stages. Investigators are collecting statements and canvassing for video. Anyone with information, including dash cam footage in the area on 168th Street, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2022-191976.
