Deceased person located in Thompson River

Kamloops police are working with the BC Coroners Service after a deceased man was located in the river yesterday evening.

On Sept. 11, 2024, around 5:45 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended an area near McArthur Island Park in response to the report, and were able to retrieve the body near the shoreline. The BC Coroners Service attended and is investigating concurrently.

At this time, we’re still working to confirm the identity of the deceased person, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information they think may be helpful is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-30277.
