Handler’s name: Constable Michael Tomasson

Dog’s age: 4 years old

Dog’s years of service: 2 years

Thing that would surprise you about the dog: Niro’s dad is called Herc and he was Constable Tomasson’s first working police dog.

Memorable call: He was able to track a guy who fled into a swamp. The water was so deep Niro couldn’t touch the bottom so he started swimming to follow the track. The suspect was caught hiding under some lily pads. All that was exposed was his face just above the water line.

All in the family: Police Service Dog Niro is on the left. On the right is Niro’s dad, retired PSD Herc, who happens to live with Cst. Tomasson.
