Nanaimo RCMP investigate brazen PIN pad theft

On the late afternoon of July 12, 2024, an employee of a local business in the 100 block of Calder Road in Nanaimo reported that a PIN entry device, known as a "PIN pad," had just been stolen. Police obtained a photo and a video of the suspects. In the video, a male unplugs the device, places the pad in his accomplice's bag, and the couple then leaves the building.

The male suspect has dark brown hair, trimmed sideburns, and a beard. He also sports a large tattoo on his left forearm and left shin. At the time of the theft, he wore black lace-up hiking boots, grey knee-length shorts, and a khaki "tentree" T-shirt.

The female suspect, who has shoulder-length black hair, wore a black, knee-length dress, black sandals, and painted fingernails and toenails.

The police urgently request that anyone who may have witnessed the theft or has information about the unidentified persons in the photo to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at (250)754-2345.
