Update – IHIT taking conduct of fatal stabbing in Surrey

Surrey RCMP is updating the public that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the fatal stabbing overnight in Newton.

Although the investigation is in its infancy, investigators believe this was an isolated incident between two individuals.

Investigators with the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit are working closely with IHIT to support the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed an altercation in the area at the time of the incident or has dash camera footage, is asked to contact IHIT.

King George Boulevard has been re-opened to traffic.

Background:

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 11:51 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of a fight in the 6600 block of King George Boulevard. When officers attended they located a male suffering from stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts from both Frontline Police Officers and British Columbia Ambulance Service, the male was declared deceased at scene.
