Road closure remains in affect following collision on Hwy 17

The Surrey RCMP continues to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving two tractor-trailers where one person has serious injuries.

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 8:10 pm Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving two tractor-trailers along Highway 17 and 116 Avenue.

One of the drivers, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in hospital. The driver and passenger of the other tractor-trailer, a 44-year-old man and 64-year-old man, were also taken to hospital for further assessment and since have been released.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken conduct of the investigation. Circumstances of the collision have not yet been determined; speed may have been a factor.

Both East and West bound lanes on Highway 17 remain closed between Bridgeview Drive and the North Surrey Truck Parking.

Traffic incident with serious injuries – Highway 17 and 116 Avenue

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of road closures following a serious collision on Hwy 17 at 136th Street.

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 8:10 pm, Surrey RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving two tractor-trailers at the intersection of 136th Street and Hwy 17. Both drivers were transported to local area hospital.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) is currently en-route and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called out. The investigation is in the early stages and investigators are working to identify all factors that led to this collision.

Currently, Hwy 17 is closed both east and westbound between Bridgeview and 104th Avenue. Traffic in the surrounding areas has been impacted and drivers can expect significant delays. The closure will remain in effect for an undetermined amount of time while investigators process the scene.
