RCMP seek witnesses in serious assault

Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating after a man was seriously assaulted outside his residence.

On Thursday, July 4, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP immediately responded to a report of a suspect causing a disturbance on Springview Place, in the neighbourhood of Upper Sahali, south of Highway 1.

While officers were on their way, they were alerted to a male who was assaulted with a weapon outside his residence on Springhill Drive, allegedly by the same suspect causing the earlier disturbance.

The 31-year-old male victim suffered serious, but what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS).

Frontline officers, with assistance from Police Dog Services, made an arrest shortly after the incident; the suspect remains in custody.

"At this time, the motive for the assault is unknown, says Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson. The investigation is ongoing, with RCMP asking anyone who witnessed any part of the incident to call them.
