IHIT seek public assistance in identifying a person of interest in Maple Ridge shooting

IHIT investigators release video of a person of interest in a recent homicide investigation. 

Background:

On January 20, 2024, the Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 22200-block of 123 Avenue, in Maple Ridge. Front line officers attended the scene and located an 18-year old man suffering from gun shot wounds at the scene of a collision. A short time later, police received a call of a vehicle on fire in the 20800-block of 123 Avenue, believed to be linked to the shooting. On January 25, 2024, the victim of the shooting, succumbed to his injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation and has continued to work closely in partnership with the Ridge Meadows RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).

IHIT investigators are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in the homicide investigation. Photographs of the person, obtained from a store in Mission, BC, shortly before the murder on January 20, 2024, are being shared in hopes that someone will recognize the man. 

The person of interest is described as a Caucasian man in his 20’s, light brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a Vans Get out and get lost hoodie and black pants with a red accent on the left leg.

We’re asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this individual, who we believe has critical information that can help further our investigation, says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. Six months ago, an 18-year old boy was killed. IHIT remains dedicated to bringing justice for his family and the community.
