Theft of boat item

On June 21 2024 at 1:11pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of theft from boat. The complainant advised that their Coleman cooler, Craftsman generator, and pelican case full of fishing gear was stolen last night between 10:00pm-5:00am, near Bishop Bay Hot Springs. The complainant was able to provide suspect information indicating a specific boat, a white Kingfisher with at least two occupants were involved. Police initiated a theft investigation and contacted partner agencies who were currently on patrol near that area on the water to advise of the theft. (Kitimat File 2024-2233)

Boat seizure

On June 22 2024, at 9:35am, Kitimat RCMP was contacted by West Coast Marine RCMP to assist with locating a boat that was involved with a theft down the Kitimat channel. Police were able to locate the boat at the Haisla Harbour. Police boarded the boat to inspect and ascertain ownership. It was at this time that police observed items that resembled the likeness to stolen items reported the day prior. Police were able to seize the boat for infractions and noncompliance with regulations and a search warrant was submitted and executed for the stolen items. The investigation continues. Noise bylaw

On June 24 2024 at 12;14am, Kitimat RCMP received complaint about loud music near Saguenay St / E Columbia Ave. Police attended and located music coming from the backyard of the house. Police located three people having a campfire in their backyard and drinking. Police requested for the music to be turned down, or for the party to be taken indoors, and reminding them about Kitimat’s 24 hours noise bylaw. All parties were compliant. With summer arriving, and hopefully some great weather, police remind the community of the noise bylaw and encourage everyone to be a great neighbour. (Kitimat File 2024-2259)

Found money

On June 24 2024, Kitimat RCMP received a report of found money. The amount is significant and would likely be missed. If this money belongs to you, please contact Kitimat RCMP to identify the amount and denominations. (Kitimat File 2024-2266)

No insurance

On June 25 2024 at 5:00am Kitimat police officer on patrol observed a vehicle parked in the area of Nightingale St, without active insurance, the driver agreed to leave it parked until they could obtain insurance. That same day, at 9:30pm the vehicle was observed travelling on the roadway by the same officer. A traffic stop was conducted, an investigation initiated for motor vehicle act infractions and a violation ticket was subsequently issued for no insurance and fail to display N. Shots heard

On June 26 2024 at 11:15pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of shots heard in the area of Davy Cres Kitimat BC. The caller initially reported hearing 14 shots coming from the bush and nothing was seen or heard after. Police followed up with the caller who stated that they didn’t know exactly what they heard or where it came from. Police never received another call of shots heard from other addresses around area. Police conducted extensive patrols in the area both by foot and vehicle with a negative result. (Kitimat File 2024-2308)
