Officer seizes drugs and recovers stolen truck

File # 2024-2600

On Friday, June 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol when observed a vehicle reported to be stolen travelling westbound on Highway 3B, near Rossland, BC. The officer detained the occupants and vehicles roadside.

The officer arrested the 36-year-old Trail woman driving the alleged stolen vehicle. She was also allegedly prohibited from driving a motor vehicle and had an outstanding warrant of arrest. The officer detained her two passengers during the investigation but they were subsequently released at the scene. The officer conducted a search incident to the arrest and located 985 grams of suspect street drugs and $2115 in cash.

The officer took the woman into custody at the Trail Detachment. She was later released pending a future court date.

The matter remains under investigation.

Trail RCMP continues to conduct patrols to keep the community safe. This was excellent investigative work by one of our officers which took nearly a kilogram of drugs off our streets, says Sgt. Wicentowich

Intoxicated man facedown and shirtless in a parking lot

File # 2024-2621

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report of an intoxicated 26-year-old Trail man stripping down and causing a disturbance in the 1100 block of Bay Avenue, in downtown Trail, BC.

The officer located the man laying facedown on the pavement and refusing to go home despite being surrounded by wife and friends. His wife and friends were willing take care of him at home; however, the man declined and opted for jail. The officer opted to arrest the man and lodged him into the cellblock at the Trail Detachment until sober after not being able to convince him to go home.

He was released to his wife the next day when he was sober.

I’d probably would have stay in the cellblock for my own safety if my wife was waiting for me after a night like that, says Sgt. Wicentowich
