Surrey RCMP is investigating a suspicious fire in Newton area

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a suspicious fire.

On June 20, 2024 at 5:30 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a structure fire in the 8200-block of King George Boulevard. Upon arrival, a unit in the housing complex was fully engulfed in flames.

Surrey Fire Services were able to extinguish the fire and no one was located inside. Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has taken conduct of the file. Initial witness statements have been taken and further canvassing of the area is ongoing. The fire has been deemed suspicious by the Surrey Fire Services Inspector. The investigation is ongoing and investigators will be in the area today. A suspect has been identified and efforts are underway to locate and arrest.
