File # 2024-18146

Proactive patrols by the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) led to the recovery of four vehicles and the seizure of two loaded firearms yesterday.

On Wednesday June 12, 2024, around 4:35 p.m., members of the CRU were patrolling the 1800-block of Parkcrest Avenue when they recognized two parked vehicles which were recently reported stolen. With support from frontline officers, a suspect was located and arrested for possession of stolen property.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police seized approximately three ounces of suspected illegal drugs, two loaded firearms, weapons, and two motorcycles also believed to have been stolen, in addition to the vehicles initially observed: a Chrysler sedan and Ford pickup truck.

These seizures are part of the continued efforts of our CRU and frontline officers to suppress and reduce crime, with a focus on criminals who are known to be associated to the illegal drug trafficking trade, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Officer in Charge. Officers interacted with several people known to police who were present at the Parkcrest location. Based on the items located and the ongoing investigation, we are confident that yesterday’s presence helped mitigate and prevent a potential act of violence.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the suspect was released without process. Anyone with information that may be related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-18146.
