Bystander lends a hand, and foot, to help officer capture a wanted Trail man

On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol when he spotted a 36-year-old Trail man with outstanding arrest warrants riding his bicycle on McQuarrie Street, in Trail, BC.

The officer activated his emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the man but instead he allegedly began to flee on his bicycle. A bystander noticed the situation and, with a well-placed kick, knock the man and his bicycle over when it passed by him. When the man recovered from the spill, he attempted to run away again but was slowed down by the bystander who held onto him. This allowed the officer time to catch up to the man and tackle him to the ground. The bystander then helped the officer bring the man under control.

The officer took the man into custody and lodged him at the Trail Detachment. He was later released by a judge under conditions.

The 36-year-old Trail man may face an additional criminal charges as a result of the above incident.

Trail man allegedly brandishing knife attempts break-in to Rossland Avenue residence

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 4:12 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a 56-year-old Trail man who was allegedly brandishing a knife and attempting break into a residence on Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The man and the homeowner were known to each other.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the man without incident after he complied with the police’s verbal arrest commands. Officers located a knife and a small amount of a substance believed to be drugs on the man in a search incident to his arrest. The homeowner was frightening by the incident; however, was not harmed. Officers took the man into custody and lodged him at the Trail Detachment.

The 56-year-old Trail man will remain in police custody as a result of the above incident.
