Single motor vehicle incident on Highway 3 near Nancy Green Junction

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 6:11 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP responded to a report of single motor vehicle incident involving a commercial transport truck on Highway 3, near the Nancy Green Junction, in Rossland, BC.

A 31-year-old Dawson Creek man allegedly fell asleep while driving a commercial transport truck and veered off the highway resulting in a crash. The man was shaken up over the incident but believed to be uninjured. The man was transported to hospital for a precautionary medical examination.

Fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 near Nancy Green Junction

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 3:05 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP and BC Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a commercial transport truck on Highway 3, near the Nancy Green Junction, in Rossland, BC.

A 65-year-old Cranbrook man was riding his motorcycle westbound on Highway 3 when he attempted to pass a commercial transport truck. A witness reported that the motorcyclist struck a part of the commercial transport truck while passing. The man and his motorcycle fell underneath the truck as a result of the contact. The man was believed to have been killed instantly. The truck driver was shaken up over the incident but believed to be uninjured. The 65-year-old Cranbrook man was travelling with his brother and another companion at the time of the incident.

Trail RCMP, with support from BC Highway patrol, conducted an investigation at the scene and the highway remained closed for several hours.

The BC Coroner Service was notified about the incident and attended the scene.

No charges are expected to be laid in this incident.
