The Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested two men after seizing drugs, cash and illegal cigarettes in the past two days.

On May 30, 2024, the Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed two search warrants on a residence and holiday trailer after conducting a drug trafficking investigation. The search resulted in the seizure of 170 grams of cocaine, 105 cartons of illegal cigarettes, assorted ammunition and cash. A Quesnel man was arrested at the scene and later released pending charge assessment by the Crown.

On May 31, 2024, members of the Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop on Front Street after observing a Quesnel man driving while prohibited. During the interaction, the police entered into a drug investigation after observing used drug paraphernalia and illegal cigarettes in the vehicle. A search incidental to arrest resulted in the seizure of 388 grams of methamphetamine, 102 grams of fentanyl, 50 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of heroin and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. The man was charged with driving while prohibited pending charge assessment by the Crown for drug related charges.

The proactive enforcement by the Crime Reduction Unit resulted in the seizure of toxic drugs that not only fuel addiction, but also put vulnerable people in grave danger of overdosing, said Staff Sergeant Richard Weseen, the Detachment Commander of the Quesnel RCMP. The Quesnel RCMP is committed reducing community harm by targeting drug traffickers that prey on the vulnerable for their own personal gain.

Anyone with information regarding drug trafficking, or any other crime, are urged to call the Quesnel RCMP at (250)992-9211.
