Structure fire sends two to hospital

The Merritt RCMP are seeking any information pertaining to a structure fire that occurred in Merritt.

On May 20, 2024, at approximately 5:00 am Merritt front line officers were called to the 1900 block of Houston Street for a report of a structure fire. The Merritt Fire Department and Emergency Health Services were already on scene, tending to two victims that had suffered significant injuries from the fire. Both were stabilized and remain in hospital. A suspect was arrested at the scene.

On May 20, 2024, Lynn Johnny was charged with Arson Causing Bodily Harm and remains in custody. She is set to appear in Court virtually on May 24, 2024 for a bail hearing.
