The Terrace RCMP were out in full force over the long weekend responding to calls and conducting proactive patrols at recreation sites and campgrounds, and monitoring vehicle traffic, to name a few. RCMP responded to approximately 223 calls between May 13 and May 20, 2024. Below are just a few highlights of calls for service received:

May 14, 2024 – A warrant was issued for the arrest of a man which was related to a previous assault charge. The warrant was issued after the man failed to report to a bail supervisor as directed. On May 16, 2024, the man was located and arrested by RCMP and held for a bail hearing. (2024-3877)

May 18, 2024 – RCMP responded to a report from Terrace By Law officer of a man who was bear sprayed by another man on the 4600 block of Lakelse Ave. The suspect left the area in a taxi but was located at a residence a short time later by police. The man was arrested for assault with a weapon and taken into custody for processing. He was held for a bail hearing that day and was remanded in custody and held for a future court date. (2024-4013)

May 18, 2024 – While conducting patrols around 11:30 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Westside Road to ensure the vehicle had a sober and licensed driver. The male drive admitted to consumption of alcohol in the hours leading up to the traffic stop. An impaired investigation was conducted roadside and the man was found to have a level of alcohol which resulted in a warn. The man was given a 3-day Notice of Vehicle Impoundment and 3-day Notice of Driving Prohibition. RCMP provided transportation home to the driver and passenger. (2024-4028)

May 19, 2024 – On the afternoon of May 19, Terrace RCMP received a report of a motorcycle collision with a guard rail west of Terrace on Highway 16. Witnesses on scene assisted the male driver as well as an off-duty physician. EHS attended and transported the man to the local hospital where he was treated and said to be in stable condition.
