File # 2024-12776, 2024-14463

Investigators with the Prince George RCMP are looking into two remote break-and-enters that occurred at cell phone tower sites over the past few weeks.

The first break-and-enter occurred at a cell towner near the Bobtail Forest Service Road and Highway 16 West on April 23, 2024. The suspects broke into the tower and stole a large amount of equipment, causing extensive damage to the building in the process.

The second incident occurred on May 7, 2024 at a cell phone tower near Berman Lake. The thieves took several metres of copper wire from this location and caused damage to the tower, as well. The value of this theft is currently unknown.

We are suggesting to businesses with remote buildings to consider installing video cameras at these locations to help prevent further incidents from occurring. If anyone has information on who may have broken into these locations and stolen the contents from inside, we encourage them to call the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

These investigations are both ongoing.

If you have any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
