On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report of a bear in the yard of a residence in the 2000 block of 7th Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officer attended and locate the approximately two-year-old brown coloured bear eating household garbage in the yard.

The officer scared off the bear by throwing a few small rocks in its general area. The officer spoke to the occupant who cleaned up and secured the garbage to prevent future wildlife conflicts.

Trail RCMP has seen an uptick in preventable human-wildlife conflict as local bears are activate in the area. The bears are hungry and looking for food after a long winter nap. Please don’t be the un-bear-able neighbour who keeps garbage and other attractants in their yard. Removing potential food sources is really the bear necessity in Kootenay life, says Sgt. Wicentowich.

Theft of propane tanks and shopping carts

On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 2:51 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report that eight propane tanks and up to 20 shopping carts were stolen from a business in the 1500 block of Second Avenue, in Trail, BC.

Trail RCMP requests assistance from the public identifying suspect in break, enter, and theft

On Friday, May 3, 2024, 6:51 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer investigated a break, enter, and theft at a residence in the 300 block of Whitman Way, in Warfield, BC. The front door to the residence sustained damage from the suspect entering the residence. The suspect stolen liquor from inside the residence.

Video surveillance captured images of the suspect. She is described as a skinny Caucasian woman, in her 50s, with long black hair, a large, potato-shaped head, and was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and a branded shirt.
