Lake Country Front Line officers and Traffic Services Officer conducted several road blocks and proactive patrols in the detachment area of Lake Country between November 17 and 19 resulting in numerous violation tickets 6 impaired drivers and the arrest of one prohibited driver.

The impaired drivers resulted in two ninety-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP), four three day driving IRP’s being issued as an alternative to criminal charges. As part of the ninety-day IRP’s drivers are found to have a blood alcohol concentration greater than the Criminal Code level . This resulted in both vehicles being impounded for thirty days, the drivers receiving a 90 day driving prohibition and a fine of $500. Three-day IRP drivers were found to have a blood alcohol concentration below the 90 day IRP limit however still effected by alcohol. This resulted in vehicles being impounded for three days, drivers being prohibited from driving for three days a fine of $200. The prohibited driver was released with a court date and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

As we come into the Holiday Season Lake Country RCMP want to ensure everyone makes it home safely while travelling on the roads and highways.

This is an excellent example of the Lake Country RCMP officers ensuring road safety in the community in a proactive manner. This is a very effective approach to catch unlicensed, prohibited, uninsured and impaired drivers, as well as many other offences and deficiencies that ultimately jeopardizes public safety on Lake Country streets states Cpl.Ryder BIRTWISTLE Lake Country Watch Commander
