Update: witnesses sought in fatal hit and run collision

Surrey RCMP is updating the public that a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on July 29, 2023 (media release: 2023-07-29) has died as a result of his injuries. Police are renewing the plea for witnesses to come forward.

On July 29, 2023, at approximately 12:38 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit and run collision in the 8200-block of 128 Street. The pedestrian, a 31-year-old man, was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation team is working to identify the vehicle and driver that fled the scene. The vehicle is described as a blue sedan with front end damage, last seen northbound on 128 Street.

Investigators know that there were multiple people on scene, some that may have witnessed the collision or arrived shortly after, says Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Vanessa Munn. Police are urging anyone who was there that night or who may have dash camera footage of the collision or suspect vehicle to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
