With many communities in and around the Fort St John area under evacuation orders and alerts, this is a very stressful time for many people.

While some may struggle with these orders and alerts, we would suggest that if you are under an evacuation order to take items you feel are important such as passports, birth certificates and wills and anything else you feel is important. If you cannot take other items such as valuables and firearms, secure them within your home and lock your doors and windows as you leave.

If you are under an evacuation alert, gather what you feel is important in one place so that you are ready to go at a moment’s notice should an alert become an order.

The RCMP will not and cannot go into your home and gather any of your personal belongings should an evacuation order be issued.

It is very important that you are ready to go if you have to. The safety of everyone is paramount and a high priority for the RCMP said Insp Tony Hanson, OIC Fort St John RCMP.
