Police urgently seek witnesses to Parkway fires

The investigation into fires that were intentionally set along the Nanaimo Parkway trail on Tuesday July 4, 2023, is continuing, and police are still attempting to locate several key witnesses.

Officers responding to the fires, indicated that they spoke to at least two adults who pointed out the suspect; one witness who even chased after him and tried to extinguish the fire. These individuals were in the affected area at approximately 12:20 PM and left shortly thereafter. Investigators are urgently attempting to locate these witnesses as they may have evidence that is key in supporting charges against the suspect, said R/Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
