File # 2017-37829
The Nanaimo RCMP is following up on a possible sighting of a Great Dane stolen from a home in Cold Lake Alberta approximately 7 weeks ago. The owner of the dog has requested the assistance of the Nanaimo RCMP after she learned there one of her dogs may have recently been sighted in Nanaimo.
The Great Dane is one of 3 Great Danes taken from the owner’s rural Cold Lake property. The theft was reported to the Cold Lake RCMP and on various social media sites but to date the dogs have not been located. The owner of the dogs contacted the Nanaimo RCMP on November 8th after receiving a call from a person who indicated they may have seen one of her dogs on November 7th at Collier Dam Park in Nanaimo. The caller said a male, no description provided, was seen walking a Great Dane and it appeared to resemble one of her stolen dogs. The caller said when the person walking the dog was asked about it, they quickly turned and walked away. Unfortunately the phone connection was poor and the conversation broke off before he could provide a description to the owner of the person seen with the Great Dane.
The dog may have been Sheldon (picture attached) who is 2.5 years old and described as having brindle (brownish/tawny) colouring. The three dogs all have a microchip implanted and are described as follows:
- Sheldon age 2.5 brindle (brownish/tawny) coloured
- Sherlock age 4, fawn coloured
- Honey Bee age 8, fawn coloured
If you have any information on the theft or possible sighting of Sheldon, please call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com text 274637, keyword Nanaimo or call 1-800-222-8477.
