File # 2017-32361

3 adult males ranging in ages of from 23 to 29 were arrested in the early morning hours of Friday October 27th 2017 for allegedly breaking in to at least a dozen vehicles parked along Summerhill Place, located off of Dufferin Crescent. The three males were later released on Promises to Appear for various property related offences and issued with a court date of December 12th 2017.

At approximately 3:45 am on the 27th police responded to reports of males breaking into parked vehicles. Officers were able to quickly locate the three and all were arrested and taken into custody without incident. At the time of their arrest, one of the three suspects was found holding an arm full of items while another had numerous items scattered at his feet. The third was found crouched down and hiding between parked vehicles. Near where they were arrested officers located a Jeep with its top cut open. All of the items found were seized and investigators are now tasked with determining where the items came from and who to return them to.

One of the items seized is a Stanley Cup championship ring from the 1930's for one of the original teams playing in the National Hockey League. We have withheld the team name engraved on the ring as the lawful owner should be able to tell investigators what team it is. We have also seized a number of other items including but not limited to, cell phones, keys, perfume, eye glasses, knives and flashlights. If you believe your vehicle was broken into on or about Friday October 27th in the area of Summerhill Place, and you are missing items, there is a good chance we may have them. We would ask that you take some time to itemize any belongings missing from your vehicle before calling us, said Constable Gary O'Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

The Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line is 250-754-2345 and the file number for this incident is 2017-32361.
