File # 2017 Coffee with a Cop
The Nanaimo RCMP is pleased to announce a local initiative simply called
Coffee with a Cop. In recent years many law enforcement agencies across North America have adopted similar approaches as a way and means for the public and business owners to discuss, meet and engage with local police officers in an informal neutral setting.
Beginning in June Nanaimo RCMP officers of various ranks, service and background will be available to meet with the public at local coffee shops throughout the city. The time and place will be advertised in advance through the local media and social media.
Coffee has traditionally been used as means to discuss issues that affect us. We also know many people have never had the opportunity sit down face to face with a police officer and ask questions and get to know them. Additionally we would like to hear about what is happening in their neighbourhoods. We are always striving to build on our existing relationships with the public and this is just another way to accomplish that. said Superintendent Cameron Miller, Officer in Charge of the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment.
The first "Coffee with a Cop" will be held on Tuesday June 13th 10 am at the Save On Foods Brooks Landing Mall, located at 2000 Island Highway Nanaimo.
