Thieves rummaging through vehicles in North Nanaimo

Over the week of March 12th to 19th the Nanaimo RCMP received seven separate reports of thefts from motor vehicles in North Nanaimo. A variety of objects were taken from the vehicles including jewellery, medication, keys, tools, sunglass, coins and even a passport. The thefts occurred near Hammond Bay Rd as well as Uplands Drive. In each of these cases there were no signs of forced entry with the investigators concluding the vehicles had been left unlocked.

These are crimes of opportunity which may be prevented by locking your car doors. Please lock your doors, park in well light locations and don’t leave any valuables in unattended vehicles." said Constable Derek Balderston of the Nanaimo RCMP.
