Surrey RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a disturbing assault that occurred approximately five months ago.

On September 7th 2013, at approximately 10:30am, Surrey RCMP responded to a call from a business owner who reported that someone had just thrown acid on his wife, at their place of business in the 13400 block of 71A Avenue in Surrey.

Fraud Tip - Buying and Selling Online

photo of suspect and associates and suspect vehicleThe investigation has determined that an unknown suspect attended the location and, after ensuring no potential witnesses were near, threw a jar of muriatic acid at the unsuspecting victim. The suspect was last seen leaving the area on foot; it is believed by investigators that there was a vehicle waiting nearby.

The victim suffered injuries as a result of what Surrey RCMP believes was a targeted assault.

After exhausting all possible avenues of investigation, officers from Surrey RCMP’s Major Crime Section are releasing video footage of the incident in order to help identify the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 20’s or 30’s, approximately 5'6"-5'10", with very short hair (blond or light brown), no facial hair, wearing a black ball cap, dark hoodie, checkered shorts, white running shoes, and carrying a clear glass-type mug with clear liquid in it.

Additional surveillance photos of the suspect with two male associates are also being released as well as a possible suspect vehicle (believed to be a green Dodge Colt or Geo Metro). The males are persons of interest in connection to this investigation and police would like to identify and speak with them.

This attack had devastating consequences for the victim, considering the weapon used, says Cpl. Paquet of the Surrey RCMP. Over the past five months we have been working diligently on this case and are now hoping that the public will be able to assist us in apprehending the individual responsible.

Surrey RCMP is requesting that anyone who has any information regarding this case, please contact the our special tip line at 604-599-7676 stating file number 2013-118333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if you wish to remain anonymous.
