What is Restorative Justice?

North Shore Restorative Justice Society is non-profit, charitable organization that began in 1997. Restorative Justice aims to address the impacts of crime and conflict through processes that seek to meet the needs of the victims, offenders and their communities.

Restorative Approaches focus on dialogue, reparation and healing, and are based on the values of accountability and respect. North Shore Restorative Justice is an alternative to the Criminal Court and is open to both youth and adult files.

Examples of Types of Restorative Justice Referral Files: 

Restorative Justice (RJ) places no restrictions on the types of files that can be referred. Every file is assessed on a case by case basis.

1. Neighbour Disputes

2. Family Disputes

3. Possession of Liquor or Drugs

4. Files Involving Elderly

5. Child Custody Files
