Report Impaired Drivers: Call 911

You think a driver may be impaired and you ask yourself what should I do? In Nanaimo, you would know to pull over and call 911. The RID Call 911 public education campaign is a year-long pilot project that was launched in June 2009 and partners the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) Canada, BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation, the Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles and the City of Nanaimo. RCMP E Division Headquarters Relocation Project

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), the RCMP and private partner Green Timbers Accommodation Partners (GTAP) are working together to develop a new headquarters facility that will help improve policing efforts in BC. Once completed, up to 2,700 RCMP employees and members of integrated units will occupy a new 76,162-square metre headquarters facility designed to meet their needs. The move will represent the largest move-coordination effort in RCMP history as employees are relocated from 25 separate locations in Metro Vancouver to the new Green Timbers facility in Surrey. The consolidation will help optimize the use of resources and assist in enhancing teamwork, operations and community safety. The new headquarters facility is planned to meet LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold standards and is being developed as a P3 (private-public-partnership) project. More...
