Detachment Strategies

Each year, the Prince George RCMP meet with external stakeholders and analyze crime statistics to identify a clear focus for policing strategies. This valuable input allows for the Detachment to identify tangible targets and measures. For 2017-2018, we have identified the following strategic priorities:

  1. Crime Reduction – Increase targeted / proactive enforcement against identified prolific offenders and around property crime hot spots; continue to work with partners on establishing integrated units;
  2. Human Resource Management – Create new strategies and initiatives to retain police officers and enhance career development;
  3. Community Safety – Focus on deliberate care strategies through external partnerships for the vulnerable (missing persons, persons with mental illness/ addictions & victims of domestic violence);
  4. Road Safety – Reduce harm on area roads by targeting high-risk driving and high risk locations through enforcement and education initiatives.
