West Shore RCMP-GRC, ICBC, and Capital Region District’s Active and Safe Routes to School program teamed up for the Think of Me Campaign reminding motorist to be aware of School Zones.

West Shore RCMP Traffic Unit and ICBC Road Safety were in School zones at Ruth King Elementary School and Hans Helgesen School giving away over 200 unique hand drawn cards to motorists to remind them to think of the students.

After the success of the lower mainland the Active and Safe Routes to School program it expanded to the Capital Region. The campaign include education and enforcement activities to enable and encourage more students and their families to walk and cycle to school.

The program had a great reception. Both kjids and motorists were happy we were there and they even came out to thank us. It was a good reminder to everyone, pay attention to the school zones says Cst. Matt Baker of the West Shore RCMP.

West Shore RCMP and its partners encourage everyone to slow down in school zones, put the phones down, and pay attention to changing weather conditions. Think of everyone.
