File # 2017-11889

A traffic complaint from a citizen led police to the arrest of two individuals suspected of drug trafficking in the early hours on August 11, 2017.

Just after midnight, the West Shore RCMP received a report of a vehicle, a brown Pontiac Sunfire, weaving all over the road on the Island Hwy in Colwood. Police subsequently located the vehicle on Goldstream Ave and a traffic stop was initiated.

The investigation of this traffic complaint took a quick turn when police learned that both individuals, a 49 year old man of Esquimalt and a 50 year old man of Victoria had a no-contact order between each other – stemming from both being arrested in Victoria on July 29 on drug related charges.

A search incidental to arrest yielded approximately 31 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine, approximately 6 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine, several cell phones and knives.

Both suspects were arrested and held in custody.

This is a great teamwork example on how the public and the police work together, says Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in the West Shore.
