2017-12-30 15:35 PST
File # 2017-185589
Surrey RCMP is currently on scene at a motor vehicle collision in the Newton area.
On December 30th, 2017, at approximately 2:58pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 88th Avenue and King George Boulevard with one vehicle on fire. The occupants of the vehicle that was on fire had been safely removed from the vehicle.
Initial police investigation found that a minor collision had occurred at 80th Avenue and King George Boulevard with the one vehicle fleeing the scene. The vehicle continued north on King George Boulevard and struck two other vehicles near 88 Avenue, one of which burst into flames. The one driver was detained at scene and alcohol is thought to be a factor. The Surrey RCMP is continuing its investigation into this matter and will be speaking to witnesses to confirm exactly what happened.
Traffic in the area will be affected for a minor period of time so that photographs can be taken and for vehicles to be towed away and the scene cleaned up of debris.
Anyone with further information, who has not already contacted police, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file #17-185589.
