Surrey RCMP is seeking witnesses to a pedestrian crash that occurred in the 9100 block of 132nd Street on Christmas Eve.
On December 24th at 2:45 pm, Surrey RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the 9100 block of 132nd Street. The investigation suggests that the pedestrian, a 32 year old woman from Surrey, became entangled with a car while it was in motion. The pedestrian fell off the side of the vehicle, sustained what appeared to be relatively minor injuries at the time, and was transported to hospital. The driver, a 41 year old male from Surrey, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Unfortunately, the pedestrian’s injuries worsened and she died at the hospital two days later.
Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is leading this investigation and working in partnership with the Coroners Service of BC.
The vehicle involved was a 2015 four door Volkswagen Jetta.
If anyone saw this crash occur and hasn’t yet spoken to police, we would like to hear from you, says Corporal Scotty Schumann.
Witness accounts are paramount to determining the sequence of events that led to this tragic incident.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
